Safe Driving Hints and Tips
Presented by True Blue Driving School
- Keep your vehicle in good repair at all times - keep windows clean and your car tidy. Remember that loose items in the car can become dangerous projectiles in an accident.
- Drive defensively and avoid driver fatigue.
- Stay within speed limits.
- Remember to signal, check mirrors and blind spot before you change lanes, overtake or turn left/right.
- Use care, common sense and courtesy when negotiating roundabouts. Give way to traffic already on the roundabout, entering or exiting the roundabout if there is a chance of a collision.
- Obey advisory and regulatory signs and road markings. Remember STOP means stop.
- Do not run amber lights without a good reason. (e.g. emergency vehicle behind.)
- Concentrate on your driving at all times.
- Review the RTA Road Rules Handbook, Log book and Driving Test guides regularly and become aware of new rules and requirements.
- Do not develop bad driving habits - there is no short cut to safe driving.
- Do not yield to peer group pressure to break the law. It is you who will be responsible for any accident and it is you who runs the risk of losing your licence.
